There is a quiet kind of beauty tucked inside ordinary days — the soft light on a morning walk, the brief company of a bird, the small moments that ask nothing from us except to notice them.

Art in Cupboard has always been a place for making: hands busy at the table, scissors and glue scattered between cups of tea, creativity shared in the warmth of togetherness. But lately, the making has shifted. It happens through observation instead of paper, through walking instead of crafting, through listening instead of shaping. The creativity hasn’t disappeared; it has simply stepped outside — breathing, watching, moving gently alongside me.

I’ve discovered that writing even a short note after a walk, a simple moment treated with care, brings me so much joy. These tiny reflections feel like little treasures gathered along the path.

Taking a short walk with a friend, a child, or a grandchild becomes more than just exercise. It becomes precious time — for talking, laughing, paying attention, and sharing the kind of moments that stay with you.

We had ice creams along the way, sat for a while on a bench, listened to birds chirping, and watched schoolchildren passing by on their way to places that have stood in this town for generations.

A group of elderly ladies stood chatting near the small bridge, smiling as we walked past. Further along, students and tourists wandered through the old streets, eager to see the town’s familiar landmarks. One elderly woman walked proudly with a large ice cream all to herself — a small act of self‑care that felt quietly wonderful to witness.

At one point we lost our way, but a young boy — almost grown — kindly pointed us in the right direction. Thanks to him, we saved time and did not need to caught the bus rushing. The place we were looking for wasn’t nearly as far as we thought. We walked and happily found it.

Walking resets our mind. It gives us energy back. It helps us let go of the things that don’t matter in the moment. The body softens, the thoughts lighten, and the weight we didn’t realise we were carrying begins to lift.

I began Art in Cupboard as a home for handmade things — small projects, shared moments, and the joy of creating with our hands. Over time, I’ve realised that creativity doesn’t always stay at the table. Sometimes it follows us out the door, into the quiet of a morning walk or the gentle rhythm of an ordinary day. These notes are my way of gathering those moments, the ones that remind me to slow down, look closely, and find art in the simplest places.

Thank you for visiting my quiet corner of the internet.
